(WAU) – Digitel South Sudan has expanded its telecommunications network with the addition of two new sites in Pala and Akuoyo, both located along the Wau–Tonj Road in Western Bahr el Ghazal State.

The company said the move is part of its wider efforts to extend mobile coverage and improve connectivity in underserved parts of South Sudan, particularly in the Greater Bahr el Ghazal region.

Digitel acknowledged an earlier error in communication in which the new sites were mistakenly listed under Warrap State instead of Western Bahr el Ghazal. The company issued an apology to customers and assured the public that such mistakes would not be repeated.

The new network sites are expected to improve both voice and data services for residents, traders, and travellers along the busy Wau–Tonj route.

According to a statement from Digitel company representatives, expanding telecommunications coverage in rural areas has a direct impact on trade, education, and access to information, thereby supporting local economic growth.

Digitel, which brands itself with the slogan “Bridging the Digital Divide,” has been steadily increasing its footprint across South Sudan since its entry into the market.

The operator is still trying to position itself as a competitive alternative to established players by focusing on expanding network availability to remote communities.
