The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine intercepted conversations<\/a> of Russian servicemen discussing the losses. <\/span><\/p>\n

In a new intercept from Ukrainian intelligence officers, the GUR reported another story about the adventures of the “green serpent” in the Russian occupying army, this time in the ranks of the 166th Separate Motorised Rifle Regiment of the 19th Motorised Rifle Division of the 58th Army, operating in the Orikhiv direction on the Zaporizhzhia front.<\/span><\/p>\n

As one occupier told another, at least 8 to 10 Russian soldiers died. According to him, the bodies were not evacuated for at least five to six days. He also described that the deceased were “covered with sleeping bags” and left at the positions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The incident points to the persistent problem of alcohol abuse within the Russian occupying forces, where poor morale, dismal living conditions, and a lack of discipline have repeatedly led to non combat fatalities. The decision to leave the dead uncollected for nearly a week further indicates the disregard Russian command holds for the welfare of its own personnel.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 58th Army, to which the 166th Regiment belongs, has been deployed in the Zaporizhzhia region for much of the war and has sustained heavy losses. <\/span><\/p>\n

During the day of May 19 alone, Russian troops lost 920 soldiers and 1,873 UAVs<\/a> in the war with Ukraine, according to Ukrainian military figures. The intercept was released by the press service of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine<\/span><\/p>\n
