(MOSCOW) – Russian state television has responded to international criticism over a fire at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, with a prominent host dismissing Western concerns and asserting Moscow\u2019s historic claim over the site.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the programme “The Evening With Vladimir Solovyov,” host Vladimir Solovyov and war correspondent Yevgeny Poddubny addressed what they termed a “hysteria” among Europeans regarding the fire on the cathedral roof. Mr Solovyov told Western critics to “shut up,” stating they had no right to comment on the matter. He asserted that if necessary, Russia would “rebuild” the Lavra and “cleanse it of all sorts of vile creatures” who, he claimed, were using it for public relations purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The presenter accused Ukrainian authorities of desecrating the site and suggested that the fire was caused by mishandling of air defence systems. He argued that Kyiv and European public relations specialists exploit any incident to mount attacks on Russia, claiming that if no pretext exists, one will be fabricated. He further alleged that it is common practice to use people, not just buildings, as victims to construct a narrative that demonises Russia internationally.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Solovyov advised Russian audiences to pay no attention to statements from Kyiv or US President Donald Trump, dismissing such remarks as amusing but irrelevant. He emphasised that battlefield developments and internal domestic resilience are of greater importance.<\/span><\/p>\n

The host cautioned against emotional reactions to both successes and difficulties, urging a more measured approach. He described the current conflict as a prelude to a new war, even after a Russian victory, and called for a fundamental shift in societal thinking to prevent future painful consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n

He stressed the need to anticipate future technological and military trends over the next 15 to 50 years to ensure Russia remains competitive and does not fall behind. Mr Solovyov stated that the country has entered a long series of periods where war will be a constant, describing it as an “era of wars.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding the United States, Mr Solovyov asserted that Mr Trump would not assist Russia, stating that such support is not part of the American leader’s global mission. He concluded that while engagement with Washington is necessary, reliance on Mr Trump is misguided.<\/span><\/p>\n
