(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Russian military bloggers are increasingly describing the battlefield outlook for Moscow\u2019s forces in Ukraine as bleak, as Kyiv\u2019s expanding drone campaign inflicts mounting losses along the front and deep inside Russian held and Russian territory.<\/p>\n
The assessment comes as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian losses in March reached their highest monthly level since the start of the full scale invasion. According to figures cited by Zelenskyy, Ukrainian drone strikes alone caused 33,988 Russian troops to be killed or seriously wounded during the month, while artillery and other strikes accounted for another 1,363, taking the total to more than 35,000 Russian losses.<\/p>\n
The figures could not be independently verified, but they align with Ukraine\u2019s broader claim that drones have become the dominant killing tool on the battlefield. Ukrainian commentary said drones were responsible for 96% of Russian losses in March, underlining how radically the war has changed from its early armoured and artillery heavy phases.<\/p>\n
Ukrainian operators are now said to be maintaining the densest frontline drone coverage the country has achieved since the war began, particularly across the Donbas, while also sustaining attacks far behind the line of contact. The effect, according to the account, is that Russian troops moving above ground within roughly 50 kilometres of the front are increasingly exposed to attack.<\/p>\n
That exposure affects almost every aspect of military activity, from troop rotations and supply deliveries to fuel transport and casualty evacuation.<\/p>\n
