(JUBA) – Lieutenant General Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, the Governor of Central Equatoria State, paid a visit to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Juba last Sunday. He joined members in worship and discussed the importance of collaboration to promote peace and security in the State.

During his visit to the headquarters office at Rock City, Governor Mujung met with representatives of Jehovah’s Witnesses, led by spokesperson Alfred Faustino. He highlighted the crucial role of religious communities in upholding moral values and supporting government initiatives to address issues such as insecurity and disunity in Central Equatoria.

Governor Mujung emphasised the need to transform insecurity into security and disunity into unity. He called for united efforts from religious leaders to engage their followers in activities that foster harmony and deter criminal behaviour.

In particular, he denounced the recent increase in gang violence by local criminal groups, referred to as “niggas” and “torontos”, and urged for community driven solutions to combat these threats.

Governor Mujung also urged all holdout groups to actively participate in the ongoing peace process, highlighting the pivotal role unity played during the referendum for South Sudan’s independence.

“It is time for us to move past our differences, whether political, social, or religious, and start afresh,” Governor Mujung remarked.

Alfred Faustino expressed his appreciation for the Governor’s leadership and efforts to promote peace and development in the State. He viewed the visit as an opportunity to enhance mutual respect and understanding between Jehovah’s Witnesses and the government.
