(JUBA CITY) – MTN South Sudan has taken significant steps to promote digital inclusion and empower youth across the country. Last week, CEO Mapula Bodibe visited ICT hubs in Juba operated by the Youth Empowerment Organization (YEO) and the Society for Transformation and Equal Rights (STER) to assess how technology and digital skills are improving lives for young people and visually impaired individuals.

During the visit, MTN South Sudan outlined several key initiatives aimed at broadening digital access and skills development. These include providing free high Speed internet as part of corporate social investment, offering skills development and mentorship programmes and formalising partnerships with YEO, STER and Orbit through a memorandum of understanding.

The CEO highlighted that these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to strengthen digital literacy, encourage innovation and provide equitable opportunities for all South Sudanese youth.

According to the South African born business executive, through combining technology access with structured training and mentorship. She added that MTN aims to address the digital divide and equip young people with practical skills for the evolving digital economy:

The ICT hubs supported by MTN play a critical role in nurturing talent among marginalised groups, particularly visually impaired persons, by offering specialised training and accessible digital resources. The collaboration between MTN, YEO, STER and Orbit also signals a long-term commitment to youth empowerment and social development in South Sudan.

This initiative positions MTN South Sudan as a leading advocate for digital inclusion, helping communities gain the skills necessary to participate in the country’s growing digital economy.
