(JUBA) – The United States International University – Africa (USIU-Africa) is set to host a formal alumni dinner in Juba this Saturday, 5 July 2025, in honour of its growing South Sudanese alumni community, many of whom now occupy prominent leadership positions in government and business.

The event, organised by the USIU-Africa South Sudan Chapter, will take place at Notos Art Centre in Juba Town from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Tickets are priced at $20, equivalent to 92,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP), based on the current official exchange rate of $1 to 4,600 SSP. The dress code is black tie, setting the tone for an elegant evening of networking, celebration and recognition.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Amos Njuguna, is leading the USIU-Africa delegation from Nairobi on behalf of Vice Chancellor Professor Mwenda Ntarangwi. The team of six staff includes Dr Michael Kisilu from the university’s alumni office. The delegation arrived in Juba earlier this week to attend the event and strengthen ties with South Sudanese alumni.

Among USIU-Africa’s high profile South Sudanese alumni are senior government officials, business leaders and public servants. Notable graduates include the Vice President and Chair of the Economic Cluster, Dr Benjamin Bol Mel and the Minister of Trade and Commerce, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang Juuk.

Other distinguished alumni include former SSPDF Spokesman Hon. Phillip Aguer Panyang, former Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority Hon. Africano Mande, Trinity Holdings Chairman Akol Ayii and Horizon Bank Managing Director Isaiah Kuot Kuol Malith.

The event is expected to attract a wide range of alumni from various sectors, offering an opportunity to reconnect, share professional experiences and explore collaboration.

It also aims to strengthen the role of the USIU-Africa Alumni Association in South Sudan’s development through education, entrepreneurship and leadership.

Guests attending the event will enjoy a formal dinner, speeches from university officials and alumni leaders and an evening of music and social engagement.

The organisers have encouraged all USIU-Africa alumni residing in or visiting South Sudan to attend and take part in what they described as “a celebration of excellence and lifelong connections.”
