(JUBA) – The Ministry of Trade and Industry of South Sudan has taken a major step toward digital governance through a partnership with Crawford Capital. On November 6, 2025, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement a digital payments system.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang. The agreement was signed by Hon. Ustaz Yel Luol Koor, Undersecretary of the Ministry, and Mr. Ariec Wol Mayar, Chief Operating Officer of Crawford Capital.

Mr. Mayar expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for embracing digital payments, noting that the initiative aligns with the government’s wider E-Government payments strategy. The project aims to digitise the Ministry’s payment processes to improve efficiency and accountability.

Hon. Ustaz Yel Luol Koor highlighted the significance of the agreement, describing it as a step forward from manual to digital operations.

Minister Atong Kuol Manyang thanked Ministry staff and Crawford Capital for their work in finalising the MOU. She addressed challenges facing digitalisation, including political resistance in some government and private sectors. She called on South Sudan’s business community to adopt digital payments to increase transparency and reduce errors inherent in manual systems.

The Minister assured that the Ministry of Trade and Industry will lead by example in adopting digital payment solutions, supporting the government’s broader e-payments mandate.
