(JUBA CITY) – The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has announced that renovation works are under way at Juba International Airport’s arrivals terminal. The project aims to improve passenger experience and bring the facility closer to international standards, with both the interior and exterior undergoing upgrades.

The renovations cover several areas designed to improve comfort and efficiency. These include new floor tiles inside the terminal, cabro paving on exterior walkways, modern lighting systems, upgraded washrooms and a more streamlined baggage claim section. According to the aviation authority, these changes will create a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for travellers entering the country.

Officials said the work is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen national infrastructure and position Juba as a modern entry point for business, investment, and tourism. With South Sudan looking to attract more foreign visitors and trade partners, the airport is seen as a critical first impression of the country.

The SSCAA noted that the renovations are being carried out with minimal disruption to ongoing operations. The authority added that once completed, the arrivals terminal will not only ease movement for passengers but also raise service standards in line with global aviation practices.

The airport upgrade comes at a time when South Sudan is seeking to expand its aviation links within the region and beyond. Improved facilities are expected to support future partnerships with airlines and to strengthen Juba’s role as a gateway for business travel into East and Central Africa.
