The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Kenya convened a consultative meeting on 7th August 2025 aimed at fostering a closer relationship with South Sudanese business owners residing in the country. Led by Ambassador Anthony Kon, the meeting sought to enhance coordination with the diaspora business community and identify areas for potential collaboration.
During the meeting, plans were unveiled for the upcoming South Sudanese Business Forum in Nairobi, which will be organized in partnership with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI). This forum will serve as a platform for South Sudanese entrepreneurs to address common challenges, exchange ideas, and explore partnership opportunities. Discussions are also in progress with Kenyan financial institutions to provide financial support to South Sudanese businesses operating in Kenya.
In addition to advocating for supportive policies, efforts are being made to streamline cross-border trade and enhance regional market access for South Sudanese investors. Participants at the meeting expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s focus on economic diplomacy, while also raising concerns regarding passport processing delays, limited access to finance, market entry obstacles, and inefficiencies at border crossings.
Ambassador Kon reassured investors of the Embassy’s dedication to supporting South Sudanese enterprises and encouraged compliance with Kenyan regulations as they strive for success. The Embassy is actively working towards improving documentation services, facilitating access to finance, and addressing logistical challenges to create a more conducive business environment.
