(JUBA CITY) – Point Investment Company Limited has announced plans to begin the rehabilitation of several internal roads within Juba City as part of its corporate social responsibility programme. The initiative follows a meeting between the company’s representatives and Juba City Council Mayor, His Worship Chris Swaka, focusing on improving the city’s road infrastructure to ease traffic flow.
According to the company, the rehabilitation work will begin on Rock City Road on Saturday, 1 November 2025, marking the first phase of its contribution to improving transport within the capital. The project aims to restore the road’s condition to ensure safer and smoother movement for motorists and pedestrians.
Point Investment described the effort as part of its commitment to supporting the community and local government through non-profit interventions that promote social and economic development. The company said its support falls under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) framework, which focuses on infrastructure support, community empowerment, and public welfare.
Speaking after the meeting, Mayor Chris Swaka welcomed the initiative, noting that public-private cooperation remains essential in addressing Juba’s infrastructure challenges. He said the city administration encourages local companies to engage in community development efforts that improve residents’ daily lives.
Juba, like many fast growing urban centres in South Sudan, faces recurring infrastructure challenges due to population growth, increased vehicle numbers, and the impact of seasonal rains. Poor road conditions often lead to congestion, damage to vehicles, and reduced business productivity.
Point Investment’s voluntary participation in road maintenance is expected to set an example for other local companies to contribute to improving living and business conditions in the capital. The company noted that while this project is self funded, it hopes such partnerships can inspire similar contributions from the private sector to supplement government efforts in urban development.
Below is a summary of the initiative:
| Project | Location | Start Date | Purpose | Funding Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rock City Road Rehabilitation | Juba City (Rock City Area) | 1 November 2025 | Road maintenance and smooth traffic flow | Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – Point Investment Ltd |
The project cost has not been disclosed, but given typical maintenance expenses, industry estimates suggest that such work could run into billions of South Sudanese Pounds. For reference, 7.1 million SSP equals approximately 1,000 US dollars at the prevailing exchange rate of SSP 7,100 per US dollar as of November 2025.
