(JUBA) – The Embassy of India in Juba has announced that nine South Sudanese citizens will soon travel to India to take part in a series of professional training courses under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation program. Officials say the initiative is part of India’s continued support to develop skills and human resources in partner countries, including South Sudan.
The selected participants will attend courses in areas such as cocoon technology, entrepreneurship and modern technology used in agriculture. These courses are hosted by recognised training and research institutions in India. The Embassy said the training will help the participants gain practical knowledge and exposure that can be applied to ongoing development efforts in South Sudan.
A list released by the Embassy confirmed the names of the selected beneficiaries: Simon Ajak Garang Bull, Jackson Venusto Modi Lado, Samuel Aru Zechariah Mayom, Khartouma Moses Makoi Moulat, Lagu Ali Baktar Samuel, Khor Samuel Majok Deng, Victoria John Juma Manas, Ade Simon Manoah Aligo and Thesamer Joseph Malara Pie.
The Embassy said this group represents a new round of South Sudanese professionals joining the Indian program, which has been running for many years and is widely regarded as one of India’s key global capacity development initiatives. The program offers training, workshops and technical courses to government institutions and professionals from developing countries.
Officials in Juba say the initiative supports South Sudan’s wider efforts to improve skills in agriculture, small business development and specialised technologies. These sectors are important to national growth plans, and the training is expected to help the participants contribute to productivity and service delivery once they return.
The Embassy also encouraged the participants to share their knowledge with colleagues after completing the program. South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation welcomed the latest development and said it remains committed to continuing its cooperation with India in skills development and other areas.
The ITEC program is funded by the Government of India, which fully covers training costs, accommodation and travel support for participants from partner countries.
