(JUBA) – The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) held a senior management meeting on 7 November 2025 in Juba to assess institutional progress and address operational challenges. The meeting, chaired by the Executive Director, Hon. Gloria Nyoka, brought together all Directors General for an in depth discussion on the Bureau’s achievements, existing gaps, and future priorities.

Hon. Nyoka praised the senior management team for their ongoing dedication and commitment to improving national standards and consumer protection. She highlighted several milestones achieved during the year, including improved inspection procedures, enhanced coordination among regional offices, and strengthened partnerships with customs and trade authorities.

The Executive Director also noted that despite these gains, challenges remain. These include limited technical capacity, logistical constraints at border stations, and the need for continuous staff training to meet international standards. She called for stronger collaboration among all departments to close existing performance gaps and ensure that the Bureau’s services continue to safeguard public health and promote fair trade.

In her closing remarks, Hon. Nyoka reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to delivering efficient and transparent services that support national development goals.

“The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards exists to protect our citizens and promote trust in the goods circulating in our markets,” she said, urging collective effort and teamwork.

The meeting ended with renewed commitment from the management to advance institutional goals through improved quality assurance and compliance mechanisms. Officials also agreed to expand outreach and awareness programmes to ensure traders and importers understand national standards regulations.

Meanwhile, the Bureau’s Nimule Station team continues to play a key role in maintaining quality control at one of South Sudan’s busiest entry points. Staff stationed there are responsible for inspecting imported goods to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements, a task central to the Bureau’s nationwide mandate.
