(AWEIL SOUTH COUNTY) – Residents of Kongder Dut Jok in Aweil South County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, are facing serious challenges due to poor road infrastructure and limited healthcare services. The community has only one Primary Health Care Center located in Akhac, leaving many residents without adequate medical care.
Martin Kuel, a local resident, highlighted the urgent need for road improvements. He recounted a tragic incident involving Aunty Kuei Wek Deng Yai, who passed away at Malek-alel Primary Health Care Center. Due to blocked roads, her family had to carry her body on a bed across water to reach the burial site.
“The people of Kongder Dut Jok face many hardships. Aunty Kuei’s death shows why we need better roads and healthcare,” Kuel said.
He called on both state and national governments to invest in road construction and infrastructure development so residents can access medical help and travel more safely.
The lack of proper transport networks not only hinders healthcare access but also limits economic activity, education and social mobility in the region.
