(BELGOROD, RUSSIA) – A significant fire broke out at a gas distribution hub in the city of Belgorod following a Ukrainian drone strike, according to video shared online. The footage shows a large flash and flames lighting up the night sky.

The strike marks the latest in a series of Ukrainian attacks targeting Russian energy infrastructure, many of them concentrated in the Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border. The area has frequently been struck due to its proximity to Ukraine.

Geolocation analysis by open source observers identified the site as a gas distribution point in Borisovka, within Belgorod region. Although the complex appears modest in size, it serves an important function in the local energy network.

A gas distribution hub receives gas from high pressure trunk pipelines, reduces the pressure, and regulates supply for safe delivery to residential, commercial and industrial users. Damage to the facility is likely to disrupt gas supplies to the nearby settlement of Borisovka until repairs are completed.

Belgorod has been a repeated target in Ukraine’s strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. Its location close to the border makes it accessible to drones and, on occasion, other systems.
