(LIPETSK, RUSSIA) – Reports emerged on Tuesday, 6 January 2026, of a large scale aerial offensive involving more than 100 unmanned aerial vehicles targeting various regions within the Russian Federation. The strikes led to a significant fire at a petroleum storage facility in the Lipetsk region. Local residents in Usman reported hearing several loud explosions followed by the sight of flames rising from an industrial site. Igor Artamonov, the regional governor, later confirmed that a fire had broken out at a facility in the Usman district after a drone crashed at the location.

The incident occurred at the premises of Usmanskaya Oil Depot LLC, located in the village of Streletskie Khutora. This specific enterprise is vital for the storage and transportation of petroleum products across the region. While the Russian dictator has frequently claimed that domestic infrastructure remains secure, these repeated incursions suggest a growing vulnerability in the industrial heartlands of the country.

Further east, in Penza, eyewitnesses documented numerous explosions. Analysis of video footage from the scene indicates that a strike occurred on the territory of Freight Transport Enterprise No. 2, also known as CJSC GATP-2. This site serves as a hub for multiple commercial tenants, making it difficult for local authorities to specify which exact businesses were affected. The recurring nature of these events has placed significant strain on local emergency services and raised questions about the effectiveness of internal security measures.

The geographical reach of the Tuesday night attacks extended to Yaroslavl and Sterlitamak in Bashkortostan. Explosions were reported near a refinery and an oil depot in Yaroslavl, while the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant was once again a target for aerial strikes. The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that its air defence systems intercepted 129 drones over a period of eight hours across 21 regions and occupied Crimea. These claims are viewed with skepticism by international observers who note that such reports often serve to mask the true extent of the damage.
