(LYMAN, DONETSK REGION, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian forces have strongly denied Russian claims of a breakthrough in Lyman, Donetsk region, describing reports from the Russian General Staff as false propaganda. The 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that Russian attacks on the city are being successfully repelled.

Valery Gerasimov, head of the Russian General Staff, reportedly informed the Russian dictator Vladimir of a supposed breakthrough in Lyman, where defence is maintained by the 63rd and units of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps. Ukrainian commanders have dismissed these claims.

Andriy Biletsky, commander of the 3rd Army Corps, stated that Ukrainian fighters repel up to 40 enemy assaults daily on the approaches to Lyman and prevent Russian forces from entering the city.

In a separate incident, one captured Russian occupier reportedly “thanked” a Russian military correspondent for publicly revealing their positions on Telegram. Ukrainian forces detected the group immediately. Part of the unit was destroyed on the spot, while the remaining member was captured and survived.

Colonel Pavlo Yurchuk, commander of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, noted that in four years Gerasimov has repeatedly exposed his troops without achieving full control of any Ukrainian region. He added that while Russian forces attempt to approach Lyman, Ukrainian units suppress them in the early stages, contradicting claims of Russian successes.

Previously, the 11th Army Corps refuted Russian reports claiming the capture of Klynove, highlighting that such information campaigns are a routine part of Russian propaganda since the start of the invasion.
