(SNAKE ISLAND, ODESA OBLAST) – Ukrainian border guards have released rare winter footage from Snake Island, offering a clear and very inconvenient reminder that the island remains firmly under Ukrainian control.
The images show Snake Island stripped back by winter, battered by wind and sea, and standing quietly in the Black Sea.
What is notably absent is any trace of the Russian flag, Russian troops, or the grand imperial fantasies once broadcast by the Russian dictator who mistook a small island for a stepping stone to glory.
Ukrainian border guards said the footage captures the island as it looks right now, in winter conditions, offering a rare glimpse of a place that became globally famous early in the war. Once presented by Kremlin propaganda as a symbol of Russian power, Snake Island instead became a symbol of Russian miscalculation.
