(EASTERN UKRAINE) – Ukrainian forces continue to rely heavily on night time drone operations to maintain pressure on Russian troops along the front line, according to footage and accounts released by Ukrainian units operating in open steppe terrain.
The operations are conducted by specialised drone teams that work without interruption, using darkness to limit Russian visibility and movement. Ukrainian sources describe the missions as part of a sustained effort to monitor enemy positions, identify troop movements, and strike targets when conditions are most favourable.
The night environment plays a central role in these operations. Wide open terrain and limited cover increase the effectiveness of aerial surveillance, allowing drone operators to track activity across large areas. Ukrainian units say this approach reduces risks to their own personnel while maintaining constant contact with Russian forces.
Ukrainian commanders have repeatedly stated that drone warfare has become a defining feature of the conflict. Night missions, in particular, are seen as a way to disrupt Russian rotations, lower morale, and limit the ability of Russian units to regroup or advance.
