(KAZINSKIYE VYSELKI, RUSSIA) – An explosion has damaged a section of the Druzhba oil pipeline in Russia during the first night of winter, according to reports from Ukrainian military intelligence. The pipeline supplies Russian oil to some European countries and is considered one of the Russian Federation’s key financial resources used to support its ongoing military campaign in Ukraine.

The incident took place near Kazinskiye Vyselki on the Taganrog to Lipetsk pipeline section. A source within the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence said that remote explosives and additional combustible materials were used in the attack. The objective was to cause significant structural damage and increased burning of the pipeline.

Local residents shared reports of a loud rumble and bright flashes on social media soon after the explosion took place. Posts in community groups described the scene and suggested that the incident was visible from a considerable distance.

Ukrainian intelligence sources stated that Russia’s oil infrastructure remains a major source of funding for the Kremlin’s military activities. They suggested that similar incidents could continue as long as the Russian dictator maintains the military offensive against Ukraine.

There have been previous attacks on the Druzhba pipeline during the conflict, highlighting its strategic importance and vulnerability. No official casualty figures or assessment of the extent of the latest damage have yet been released by Russian authorities.

The Druzhba pipeline is one of the longest in the world and plays a central role in the Russian economy. Disruptions could affect Europe’s energy supply, though the volume transported through this particular route has already been reduced since the full scale invasion of Ukraine began in 2022.
