(TAMAN, KRASNODAR) – Ukrainian long range unmanned aerial vehicles successfully targeted the Taman port complex in Russia’s Krasnodar region late Wednesday, causing significant damage to energy infrastructure. Local authorities confirmed that the strike ignited four large oil storage tanks at the facility, which serves as a critical maritime gateway for Russian energy exports on the Black Sea.

The attack, which occurred in the village of Volna within the Temryuk district, reportedly resulted in three fatalities and eight injuries among port personnel. While initial visual reports from the scene suggested a contained incident, Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev later clarified the scale of the damage, noting that the fire had spread across multiple petroleum reservoirs. Over 200 emergency responders were deployed to the site to contain the blaze, which sent plumes of smoke over the coastline.

The Taman transshipment complex is a vital economic asset for the Kremlin, handling shipments of oil, liquefied gas, ammonia, and grain. This latest operation follows a pattern of increasing Ukrainian strikes against Russian energy logistics designed to disrupt the funding of the ongoing invasion. Observers noted that the drones appeared to target the storage “farm” specifically, where tanks are positioned in close proximity, creating a high risk of fire spreading between units.

This strike comes amid a wider intensification of the conflict. In a related development, a separate drone incident in the nearby Republic of Adygea reportedly injured 11 people and damaged residential property. Meanwhile, Ukrainian volunteer groups continue to seek international funding for specialized equipment to maintain their technological edge. Military units have issued a request for 20 specialized “Kai2” tubes and drone sensors, with each sensor priced at approximately ₽2,656 ($35) and the total project cost estimated at ₽455,254 ($6,000).

Despite the strategic blow to the port, the Russian dictator’s administration has maintained a defiant posture. Analysts remain sceptical of any potential policy shifts from Washington regarding the conflict, particularly as political figures like Donald Trump have previously suggested rapid resolutions that critics fear would favour the Kremlin’s interests at the expense of Ukrainian sovereignty.
