(SAINT PETERSBURG, LENINGRAD OBLAST) – Ukrainian long-range drones struck an oil terminal and naval vessels in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast on 3 June. The attack coincided with the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), an event the Russian dictator is scheduled to address.
Despite criticism from certain activists regarding the effectiveness of Ukrainian manufactured long-range weapons, Fire Point drones continue to hit targets deep inside Russian territory. Fire Point co-owner and chief designer Denys Shtilerman stated that the company could not ignore the forum being held in the city and decided to “visit” there with their own strike assets, UNN reports.
Numerous explosions were reported in Saint Petersburg on the morning of 3 June during a large-scale drone attack. According to an ASTRA OSINT analysis, the strike resulted in a fire on the territory of JSC “Petersburg Oil Terminal,” one of the largest oil product transshipment complexes in northwestern Russia. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strikes on important facilities on Russian territory.
SPIEF runs from 3 to 6 June and is expected to gather foreign businessmen and government representatives. According to Denys Shtilerman, SPIEF is the largest and most important event for Russia, where the Russian dictator speaks every year “about how Russia is defeating everyone and becoming more powerful.”
Shtilerman noted that Rodney Mims Cook Jr., Chairman of the Commission of Fine Arts under the US Presidential Administration, arrived at the forum and has already visited the Lenfilm film studio.
“Because of such distinguished guests and the importance of the event itself, we could not ignore it — and urgently flew to Piter [St. Petersburg]. But there is a nuance)) We really wanted to arrange a tour for the guests to the cruiser ‘Moskva,’ but unfortunately, we couldn’t bring it there — so we had to take out two other ships right at the venue. I hope all SPIEF-2026 guests will breathe deeply and enjoy the views,” Shtilerman wrote on his page on the social network X.
According to the monitoring channel Exilenova+, several vessels were attacked in Kronstadt. One of them is likely the corvette Boikiy, which in 2025 repeatedly escorted ships of the Russian shadow fleet in the English Channel.
The Anti-Corruption Action Center (AntAC) was among the first to report Fire Point’s strikes on Russian facilities on its social media. AntAC has been actively working against the Ukrainian manufacturer, criticising the production of weapons and downplaying successful strikes on facilities deep inside Russian territory.
“The President spoke about 3,000 missiles, I think, back in ’25, that were supposed to be manufactured. And for us, this was a key order for Fire Point. They received, well, if I call it a monopoly share, but at least the largest share of funding for these things (…) Do I not want Ukraine to have missiles? Of course I do. And that is the motivation why we are questioning, friends, why this company received what I consider a monopoly share of money for missiles that don’t exist (…) I’m not interested in Shtilerman, but in the missiles at the end, because they were supposed to be there in ’25 and they aren’t. And they were supposed to be from Shtilerman. Step back – is there a result from him? (…) Yes, well, there were three successful strikes. That’s not thousands of missiles, it’s not even 300 successful ones, not even 30, but three. Is this the result for which we paid such a huge amount of money?” stated the head of AntAC Vitaliy Shabunin in one of his interviews.
Shabunin has even proposed nationalising Fire Point on the grounds that the company allegedly failed to produce effective weapons.
Earlier, Fire Point co-owner and chief designer Denys Shtilerman published a video of FP-1 and FP-2 drones operating against military targets and fuel and energy facilities in Russia on the night of 30 May. Ukrainian drones struck oil depots, a tanker, an Iskander missile system, and two Tu-142 aircraft.
