Kremlin TV Host Loses Patience Over False Victory Forecasts

(MOSCOW, RUSSIA) A leading presenter on Russia’s state controlled television channel NTV has openly lost patience with guests who continue to predict Ukraine’s imminent collapse, marking a rare on air admission of the Kremlin’s failed forecasting four years into the full scale invasion.

During a recent broadcast, host Andrey Norkin interrupted political commentator Georgy Mirzayan after the latter once again claimed Ukraine was incapable of waging a war of attrition due to a lack of resources.

“Ukraine cannot wage a war of attrition because it does not have the resources for this,” Mr Mirzayan stated in the broadcast.

Mr Norkin responded with visible exasperation, stating that it was his own patience that had been depleted. “Do you understand? My patience has already run out, do you understand? Let’s be honest, you have been saying these words to us for quite a long time,” the presenter retorted.

The exchange has revelaed a growing dissonance within Russian state media narratives. “For four years it has been said that, yes, they are about to be unable to continue, but the money is still found, the money is still supplied,” Mr Norkin said. He further underscored the futility of Moscow’s strategy by stating, “To make the patient die, you need to cut off the external ventilation. The problem is that we are not cutting off the external ventilation.”

In a significant departure from official Kremlin justifications regarding the protection of the Donbas or the so called “denazification” of Ukraine, the studio discussion shifted to a frank admission of Moscow’s geopolitical limitations.

The panel noted that Russia lacks the mechanisms to compel European nations to cease their financial and military support for Ukraine. “How can we force the Europeans to stop financing the Kyiv regime? It is obvious that we do not have these ‘cut off tools’, otherwise these tools would have been used long ago,” the broadcast stated.

The on air spat concluded a cycle of what a Ukrainian blogger Denis Kazanskyi described as Russian “experts” mocking one another over the persistent gap between propaganda declarations and battlefield realities, noting that “The dreams of Russian imperialists that the West is about to abandon Ukraine, stop supporting Ukraine, stop financing Ukraine, were once again dispelled live on air, and by the Russians themselves.”
