(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian forces say their drone units are carrying out sustained operations not only along the front line but also deep inside Russian territory, striking targets where Russian forces believe they are secure.

According to a video statement released by Ukraine’s drone forces, unmanned systems are being used to hit key strategic sites, including oil refineries and other energy facilities. Ukrainian officials say the purpose is to reduce Russia’s oil revenue and limit fuel supplies available to the Russian army as the war continues.

The statement describes the campaign as systematic and continuous, emphasising daily preparation, coordination and accuracy rather than isolated attacks. Ukrainian commanders say the strikes are designed to weaken Russia’s ability to sustain military operations against Ukraine over time.

Specific units involved include the Ninth Battalion Kairos of the 414th Separate Brigade, known as the Birds of Madyar, operating within Ukraine’s dedicated drone forces. Personnel shown in the footage stress that close cooperation between teams is intended to ensure reliable results during each mission.

Ukrainian officials claim the drones are capable of striking targets more than 1,500 kilometres from Ukraine’s border. Over the past year, they say more than 350 strategic objects inside Russia have been hit.

Ukraine estimates that the cumulative economic impact of these strikes costs Russia about 3 billion US dollars per month, equivalent to approximately 3 billion US dollars, as the currency referenced is already in US dollars. Kyiv argues that every successful attack on strategic infrastructure reduces Russia’s resources, slows operational tempo and limits its capacity to wage war.

The following table summarises the key claims made by Ukraine regarding the drone campaign:

Measure Ukrainian Claim
Maximum strike distance Over 1,500 kilometres from Ukraine
Strategic targets hit in one year More than 350
Estimated monthly cost to Russia About 3 billion US dollars
Main targets Oil refineries and strategic infrastructure

Audio included in the released footage features reactions from inside Russia during alleged strikes, with voices describing explosions, fires and confusion as facilities are hit. These recordings are presented by Ukraine as evidence of the reach and impact of its drone operations.

Ukrainian officials conclude that their drone forces remain one step ahead, portraying unmanned systems as a critical tool in offsetting Russia’s larger conventional capabilities under the leadership of Russian dictator Vladimir, whose forces continue to face pressure far beyond the battlefield.
