(JUBA) – The Bank of South Sudan has announced a fresh foreign exchange auction aimed at improving confidence in the financial sector and supporting currency stability. The auction will take place on Tuesday 7 October 2025 and will be open to eligible commercial banks across the country.
In a public notice issued on 3 October 2025, the Central Bank said the exercise is intended to promote transparency and accountability in foreign currency allocation. Commercial banks taking part will be allowed to submit bids in any amount and at any exchange rate of their choosing.
Bids will be received between 9:00 in the morning and 10:00 through email and the Refinitiv trading platform. The adjudication period will run from 10:00 to 11:00. Banks with access to the Refinitiv system are expected to use it directly to submit their offers.
Those without access are required to complete, sign and scan their bid forms into one PDF file before sending them by email to the Financial Markets Department. The forms and auction guidelines can be collected from the Bank’s Front Office Division during working hours or downloaded from the official website.
Successful banks must deposit cash immediately into their settlement accounts at the central bank. They must complete full payment within 24 hours of the auction results being made public. The Bank of South Sudan recommends that settlements be made through wire transfers into the Nostro accounts of the winning banks.
The Director of the Financial Markets Department, Grace Araba Gordon, said inquiries can be directed to her office at the Bank’s headquarters in Juba.
