The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has refuted reports suggesting the dismissal of the Director of Juba International Airport, explaining that the recent change was a routine promotion.

Captain Dau Majak, former General Manager of Juba International Airport, has been promoted and reassigned as the General Manager for Regional Airports at the CAA Headquarters in Juba.

In a statement to the press, CAA Spokesperson John Woja Eliana highlighted that the leadership reshuffle was a result of standard performance evaluations and the strategic requirements of the authority.

Woja stated, “It is incorrect to claim that Juba International Airport operates independently. All airports and airstrips in South Sudan fall under the Civil Aviation Authority, and staffing decisions are made based on performance assessments and strategic objectives.”

According to Woja, Captain Majak’s new role will involve addressing operational challenges in Malakal, Wau, Rumbek, and Akon.

The CAA aims to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency across all airports in the country through these changes.
