(RUWENG ADMINISTRATIVE AREA) – Ruweng Seeks Faster Completion of GPOC Infrastructure Projects

The Chief Administrator of Ruweng Administrative Area, Stephano Wieu de Mialek, has held talks in Juba with senior officials from the Greater Pioneer Operating Company to push for the completion of key community projects that have been delayed.

The GPOC delegation was led by the company’s Vice President, Engineer Saber Ojak Chol, alongside representatives from the Community Development Department. The discussion focused on several unfinished projects that were initiated by the company under its social investment and corporate responsibility commitments.

Among the pending works are the construction of Lakes No Road, a public school, a hospital and the Panrieng airstrip. Local authorities say these projects are vital for improving movement of goods, access to health services and education in the region.

Engineer Saber Ojak Chol assured the Chief Administrator that GPOC will make every effort to fast track the completion of the works. He added that the company’s Community Development Department will continue to work closely with government officials in Ruweng to ensure that services reach residents without further delay.

Chief Administrator Stephano Wieu de Mialek thanked GPOC for its cooperation and described the company as a consistent partner to the people of Ruweng. He urged the delegation to move quickly to finish the projects, saying their completion will directly improve daily life for local communities.

Oil producing areas such as Ruweng Administrative Area often rely on agreements between government and oil firms to develop public infrastructure. The timely completion of road and air transport facilities could also strengthen trade and humanitarian logistics in the region.
