(JUBA) – The Ministry of Finance and Planning held a reception on Tuesday 19 August 2025 to welcome its newly appointed Deputy Minister, Hon. Yien Gach Ruey. The event took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in Juba and was attended by senior government officials, dignitaries from Upper Nile State and members of the Eastern Jikany Community.
Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, praised the Ministry staff for their professionalism and dedication during a challenging economic period. He highlighted that the staff’s hard work is a key factor in the Ministry’s progress and urged them to offer full support to the new Deputy Minister as he assumes his duties.
Hon. Yien Gach Ruey pledged to work closely with the Minister and the Ministry staff through cooperation, teamwor, and commitment. He said his priority will be to help address economic challenges, assist in economic reforms, and support efforts to diversify the South Sudanese economy.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted plans to engage investors, development partners, and international organisations to strengthen South Sudan as an investment destination.
Former Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Bec George Anyak, expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet. He also thanked the Ministry staff for their support during his tenure and congratulated Hon. Yien Gach Ruey, wishing him success in his new role.
