(JUBA) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a series of decrees reshaping the leadership of South Sudan’s SPLM-IO and SPLM/IG factions, affecting ministers, parliamentarians, and ambassadors. The moves signal a notable adjustment in government representation ahead of ongoing political negotiations.

The President has relieved Bech George Anyak from his position as Deputy Minister of Finance. He has appointed Hon. Yien Chan Gach Ruei as the new Deputy Minister.

Several SPLM-IO members have had their appointments revoked. These include Hon. Oyet Nathanial, First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA), Hon. Deng Deng Akon, Speaker of the Council of States, Hon. Faruk Gatkuoth, SPLM-IO Chief Whip in TNLA, Hon. Regina Joseph Kaba, TNLA member, Hon. Gai, TNLA member and Hon. Matata Franc Elikana of the Council of States.

The President also named new SPLM-IO representatives to both legislative bodies. In the Council of States, Daniel Akot Akot and Wani Elia were appointed, while the TNLA welcomed John Oto Mariane, Malong Achirian, Julia, and Peter Charlaman. These appointments are aimed at maintaining the representation of SPLM-IO interests in key national institutions.

In addition to parliamentary adjustments, four South Sudanese ambassadors have been dismissed from their foreign missions. The officials affected are John Andruga, Mayen Dut Wol, Riek, and Joshua Franco Paul.
