(JUBA) – U.S. Embassy Updates Limited During Government Funding Lapse
The U.S. Embassy in Juba, South Sudan, has announced that its social media updates will be limited due to a lapse in appropriations affecting U.S. government operations. Regular updates will not be posted until full operations resume, except in cases of urgent safety or security information.
Despite the funding lapse, scheduled passport and visa services at U.S. embassies and consulates overseas, including in South Sudan, will continue where possible. The embassy urged the public to check official sources, such as travel.state.gov, for the latest information on services and operating status.
The embassy’s statement emphasised that while routine communication is paused, it remains committed to providing critical safety and security information to U.S. citizens in South Sudan and elsewhere.
Service | Status During Funding Lapse |
---|---|
Social Media Updates | Limited to urgent safety and security alerts |
Passport Services | Continue as operationally possible |
Visa Services | Continue as operationally possible |
Official Information | Available via travel.state.gov |
The embassy reminded citizens to plan ahead for travel or consular services and to follow official announcements closely, as operational capacity may be affected until government funding is restored.
