On Friday, Vice Presidents Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel and Taban Deng Gai came together to discuss the advancements of key projects within the Economic and Infrastructure Clusters under their purview. The meeting, which took place on August 8, focused on assessing the progress of various initiatives and setting out priorities, with a particular focus on road development. Efforts are underway to secure funding to support these infrastructure projects.
A statement from the Office of the Vice President for Economic Infrastructure highlighted the importance of road construction in promoting economic growth and enhancing connectivity among communities. This development is expected to reduce transport costs, facilitate trade, and encourage regional integration.
During the meeting, the leaders addressed challenges hindering river transport, such as obstacles and unauthorised fees. They committed to addressing these barriers to improve service delivery and stimulate commerce throughout the country.
Both vice presidents stressed the need for increased collaboration among government departments, development partners, and the private sector to expedite the implementation of sustainable infrastructure projects that will drive South Sudan’s economic progress.
