(JUBA) – Zain South Sudan has provided a significant boost to healthcare in Twic County, Warrap State, by donating essential medical equipment and committing to pay the salaries of clinic staff for one full year. The initiative is part of the company’s wider efforts to contribute to social development across South Sudan.

The donation was officially handed over at a ceremony held at Zain’s headquarters in Juba. The event was led by Zain South Sudan’s Acting CEO, Eng. Wilson Alsio, who highlighted the company’s focus on creating long term community impact. He reaffirmed Zain’s commitment to go beyond providing mobile connectivity by investing in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and sports.

The healthcare support to Twic County adds to Zain’s recent contributions in other parts of the country. These include assistance to Juba Teaching Hospital and earlier efforts in COVID-19 response, which provided emergency supplies and funding during the pandemic. The company also sponsors the South Sudan national football team, reflecting a broad strategy of engaging with communities through diverse social investments.

The donation to Twic County includes medical equipment intended to improve service delivery at the local clinic. In addition to the equipment, Zain South Sudan will fully cover the clinic staff’s salaries for twelve months, though the total amount was not disclosed.

The company said it will continue to explore opportunities to expand its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes and encouraged collaboration with government and non governmental organisations to maximise benefits to the population.

By targeting Twic County, which is located in one of the more remote areas of Warrap State, the company is also addressing disparities in rural health services.
