(MOSCOW) – As the conflict enters its fifth year, the Russian capital and various domestic regions are experiencing a significant increase in instability and military-grade explosions. Residents in the Smolensk region are currently facing evacuation orders following the destruction of a major chemical facility. Local authorities appeared caught off guard by the strike, which targeted a plant allegedly involved in the manufacture of explosives. This development highlights a failure in the regional defence strategy originally promised under the so-called special military operation, which has now transitioned into a direct threat within Russian territory.
In Moscow, the Russian dictator, Vladimir Putin, has reportedly ordered a significant increase in security for high ranking military and intelligence personnel. This directive follows a second car explosion targeting law enforcement in the capital within a single month. The heightened security measures now extend to generals, FSB officers, and representatives of the Ministry of Defence. Analysts suggest that the Russian dictator has effectively turned the country into an active war zone, despite previous assurances that the invasion of Ukraine would enhance domestic security.
The Russian population, many of whom initially supported the full scale invasion, is reportedly beginning to question the competence of their leadership. Observations indicate a notable shift in public opinion throughout the twenty five year rule of the Russian dictator, as the reality of the conflict reaches the safest cities in the country. Ukraine has not surrendered as predicted in 2022; instead, the war has returned to dozens of Russian regions. In Moscow, Ukrainian drones and unidentified flying objects are frequently reported in the airspace above the capital, while special services continue to target those deemed war criminals.
The neutralization of various military researchers and FSB officers in locations once considered secure has placed the Kremlin in a state of heightened concern. Despite the pervasive surveillance and the obsessive personal security measures taken by the Russian dictator—including the use of bunkers and body doubles—the recent spate of car bombings suggests a breach in domestic control. The effectiveness of the Ukrainian special services, such as the SBU, has seemingly disrupted the long standing influence the FSB once held over former Soviet republics.
Further strikes have been reported in other regions, including Tatarstan, where oil refineries and drone production sites have been targeted. In Smolensk, the strike on the fertilizer plant resulted in at least four fatalities and ten injuries. Local officials in several provinces have expressed growing frustration as the conflict impacts their territories. The continued expansion of the war zone into Russia is viewed by some as a necessary precursor to realistic negotiations, which may eventually take place in a post Putin era.
putin fears for the leftovers of his generals, as explosions rock moscow. smolensk region stops enjoying SMO as it develops on the territory. russia is collapsing.
