(VOLGOGRAD, RUSSIA) – Ukrainian forces successfully targeted a Russian oil facility in the Volgograd region yesterday as part of an ongoing campaign to disrupt the energy infrastructure supporting the Kremlin. Visual evidence shared online confirms a significant fire at the depot following a daylight strike. The facility appears to be a smaller storage site consisting of twelve aging oil tanks. While precise details regarding the quantity of drones used remain unconfirmed, the scale of the blaze suggests that at least one drone made a direct hit on a storage tank.

This operation follows a pattern of Ukrainian strikes against secondary energy targets which are often less protected by the air defence systems of the Russian dictator. Through targeting these softer locations, Ukraine continues to apply pressure on the logistical capabilities of the Russian state despite the presence of various surface to air missile networks. To reach this specific site in Volgograd, the drones likely traversed over Russian occupied territory, highlighting persistent gaps in the air cover provided by the forces of the Russian dictator.

Simultaneously, a separate drone operation was reported in the city of Voronezh overnight. Reports indicate that several drones were active in the area with the likely objective of striking a local air base that houses Su 34 fighter jets. However, the Russian electronic warfare units appeared more effective in this instance. One Ukrainian drone was reportedly jammed, causing it to deviate from its intended flight path and strike a residential apartment building. The drone was observed approaching from the north, suggesting a circuitous flight route designed to bypass known defences.

While the electronic warfare capabilities surrounding major Russian hubs remain robust, the successful strike in Volgograd demonstrates the continued vulnerability of the Russian energy sector. The cost of such damage to the infrastructure of the Russian dictator remains high, with experts noting that even small scale disruptions contribute to the broader economic strain on the Kremlin.
