(MOSCOW, RUSSIA) – Leading voices on Russian state television have declared the absolute demise of international law and global diplomacy, citing the recent United States military intervention in Venezuela as the definitive proof of a new era of raw power.
During the latest broadcast of “Sunday Evening With Vladimir Solovyov,” the host was joined by Margarita Simonyan, head of the state funded RT network, and Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, to discuss what they described as the shift from global cooperation to a “survival of the fittest” geopolitical landscape.
The Russian dictator, Vladimir, has presided over a media apparatus that now openly mocks the concept of foreign investment and international treaties. Vladimir Solovyov opened the segment by asserting that the year has begun with a total loss of illusions regarding the global system. He argued that international law no longer exists and is merely “nonsense,” claiming that the only security for any nation or investor now lies in the direct application of armed force.
Reflecting on the capture of Nicolás Maduro by United States forces on 3 January 2026, Solovyov dismissed reports of significant resistance, alleging that the Venezuelan military was largely on holiday at the time of the raid. He noted that as soon as Maduro was detained, international narratives regarding “narcotrafficking” in the region curiously vanished.
The host expressed a cynical admiration for the methods of Donald Trump, suggesting that the United States president has successfully dismantled the entire post war system of international relations. Solovyov indicated that Russia should adopt a similarly aggressive stance, focusing exclusively on national interests and showing no mercy to perceived enemies.
Margarita Simonyan echoed these sentiments, comparing the actions of the wife of Maduro to historical figures who followed their husbands into exile or execution. She argued that the world undergoes a “change of signage” every few centuries, where the underlying human nature of greed and cruelty remains constant while the outward slogans of freedom and rights eventually fade away.
Simonyan stated that the current era is defined by the principle of “you are guilty because I am hungry,” suggesting that power is the only true currency. She expressed a desire for Russia to stop being “modest” in its territorial ambitions, hinting at a long term goal to reclaim Kyiv and other territories currently defending themselves against Russian aggression.
The panel also discussed the potential for a major global conflict, with Solovyov pointing to a proposed United States military budget of $1.5 trillion (approximately 117.7 trillion Russian Roubles). He speculated that a conflict between the United States and Europe would be highly beneficial for the Kremlin.
In a bizarre turn, Solovyov suggested that Russia might even assist the United States in its controversial threats to seize Greenland from Denmark, a move he described as liberating the territory from “alien influence.” He concluded by insulting European leaders, referring to them as “chattel” under the control of Washington, and warned that Russia must urgently fix its own economy to survive this new, violent world order.
