(MOSCOW, RUSSIA) – A nineteen year old Russian soldier has revealed that he returned to the battlefield shortly after finishing his compulsory military service to pay off family debts. The young man explained that he volunteered for a professional military contract only two weeks after being discharged from his initial term of service. “Yes. And a volunteer. At 19, I volunteered. No, I finished my mandatory service first. I mean, I went in at 18, completed my term, and got discharged. 2 weeks passed. I signed the contract and left,” the occupier stated in a recent interview.

His decision was motivated by the financial situation of his mother who is currently burdened by a bank loan. The soldier stated that his mother was deceived by her biological sister into taking out a loan in her own name. “This sister essentially deceived mom and she arranged things so that mom ended up taking out a loan in her own name and then this sister bought herself a fur coat with all that money,” he explained. The loan amount is approximately 200,000 Russian roubles which is equivalent to about 2,665 US Dollars at current rates.

According to the soldier the funds earned from his military contract will be used at his mother’s discretion. Potential uses for the money include completing minor construction tasks on their property or furnishing their home. “She might pay off the loan perhaps I don’t know I have no idea she’ll do whatever she wants,” he noted.
