(SAMARA, RUSSIA) – Drone strikes have targeted Russia’s Samara region for a second consecutive night, with local authorities confirming at least one fatality and multiple injuries following impacts in Samara and Novokuibyshevsk. The Novokuibyshevsk petrochemical plant was reportedly struck and set ablaze, while Kurumoch International Airport suspended all flight operations amid the ongoing air alert.

Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, the governor of the Samara region, confirmed that one person died as a result of drone attacks in Novokuibyshevsk. Two further individuals were hospitalised in Samara following a strike on a residential building. One of the injured was inside the premises at the time of impact and the other was on the street. Emergency services remain on scene and evacuation procedures are underway for residents of the affected high rise structure. Windows on the upper floors of the building were blown out by the blast and a subsequent fire was reported.

Local residents reported hearing explosions and the distinctive hum of uncrewed aerial vehicle engines in the sky over Samara during the night hours. The regional air raid alert prompted the temporary suspension of both arrivals and departures at Kurumoch Airport. Russian public channels and local administrative bodies have confirmed the incidents, though the full extent of the damage to the petrochemical facility and surrounding infrastructure is still being clarified.

Separately, explosions were reported in occupied Sevastopol and a fire was observed at an oil depot in Feodosia, Crimea, on the same date.
