(SAMARA OBLAST, RUSSIA) –Â Ukraine conducted a large wave of drone attacks into Russian territory overnight, striking multiple energy targets and setting at least two oil refineries ablaze in the Samara Oblast.
The strikes, which targeted facilities across five regions, are part of a sustained campaign aimed at degrading Russian military logistics and the economic infrastructure funding the war. Among the facilities confirmed hit were the Novokuybyshevsk refinery and the Syzran refinery, both located in the Samara Oblast. Ukrainian forces also successfully struck oil storage depots in Crimea and Luhansk, as well as port infrastructure in Leningrad Oblast and occupied Mariupol.
In the Krasnodar Krai, a major fire at the Tuapse oil refinery continued to burn for a fourth consecutive day following a previous strike. Video footage verified by the operating forces showed intense flames and thick black smoke billowing from the facility, with firefighting crews working in extremely hazardous conditions.
Ukrainian drone forces also targeted and destroyed Russian fuel trains near the occupied city of Luhansk. With stationary oil depots increasingly vulnerable to attack, the Russian military has been forced to store fuel supplies in rail cars, which are now being systematically hunted by Ukrainian firepoint drones.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that combined strikes on refining and export infrastructure have cut Russia’s oil exports by approximately 880,000 barrels per day. This disruption is estimated to cost the Russian economy roughly 100 million US Dollars every 24 hours. Separately, Ukrainian Special Forces reported successful strikes on three Russian warships docked in occupied Crimea, including the large landing ships Yamal and Azov, as well as an anti-sabotage vessel.
In a demonstration of increasing reach and precision, a Ukrainian Neptune missile struck a drone manufacturing facility in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, causing a significant fire. Furthermore, footage released by the Azov Brigade indicated that Ukrainian drones are now operating deep inside the city of Donetsk, using onboard Artificial Intelligence tracking systems to overcome electronic warfare jamming and destroy Russian military supply vehicles.
Ukrainian Defence officials announced an ambitious plan to transition up to 100 percent of frontline logistics to robotic unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). The Ministry of Defence stated that 9,000 UGV missions were conducted in March alone, with contracts planned for the production of 25,000 additional units in the first half of the year to minimise risk to soldiers during supply rotations.
Footage of the strikes on refineries in Samara Oblast and the ongoing fire in Tuapse was released by the respective operational units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
