Ukraine Hits Sixteen Russian Military Targets in Combined Night Offensive

(KYIV) – Ukrainian long range strike units conducted a coordinated assault against sixteen military and logistical targets across occupied Crimea and eastern Ukraine overnight, the Unmanned Systems Forces Command reported on 16 April. The operation, described by commanders as a “combo strike,” inflicted significant damage on advanced air defence networks, missile launch infrastructure, and fuel storage facilities deep behind Russian lines.

The offensive, coordinated by the newly established Deep Strike Centre of the Unmanned Systems Forces, focused on dismantling what the military termed a “layered system of defence, engagement and supply.” Targets included three distinct air defence systems, two operational bases for Iskander short range ballistic missile systems, a newly identified drone warfare centre, and two major oil depots.

Among the high value assets struck was a Pantsir S1 gun missile air defence system located near Feodosiia in temporarily occupied Crimea. The engagement was carried out by pilots of the 9th Battalion “Kairos” of the 414th Separate Brigade “Ptakhy Madiara” (Madiar’s Birds). The same unit was responsible for hitting two separate deployment and storage bases for Iskander operational tactical missile complexes, situated near the settlements of Mizhhiria and Kurortne in occupied Crimea. Additionally, a warehouse belonging to the 758th Logistics Centre of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Mizhhiria was struck by the 413th Separate Battalion “Reid.”

Further degradation of Russian air defence capability was achieved with the targeting of an Osa AK surface to air missile system near Vodiane in temporarily occupied Donetsk Oblast. This strike was executed jointly by the 6th and 7th Battalions of the 414th Separate Brigade. A Buk M1 surface to air missile system was also successfully engaged near Bahativka in temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Oblast by the 1st Separate Regiment of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

In a blow to logistical and drone warfare capabilities, the operation destroyed the base of the “Rubikon” centre for unmanned aerial vehicles, including a workshop, technical maintenance area, and storage depot for drones near Hirne in temporarily occupied Donetsk Oblast. Commanders noted the site was “reduced to splinters” by the 1st Separate Regiment.

The energy infrastructure sustaining the occupation was also targeted. The Oktiabrske oil depot and the Hlybokyi Yar oil depot, both in occupied Crimea, were hit by the 9th Battalion “Kairos” of the 414th Separate Brigade. Military officials also hinted at a separate, concurrent operation involving “relatives from Tuapse,” an apparent reference to coordinated strikes on fuel facilities within the Russian Federation’s Krasnodar Krai, adding that details regarding that broader strategic operation would be released by the General Staff.

“To the worms, you are finished,” a representative of the unit stated in a release accompanying the operational summary. “We are only just warming up the engines. The oil is heating up, and there will be more to come, right up to the tonsils.”

The operations were carried out under the direction of the newly established centre for deep strike coordination within the Unmanned Systems Forces. Footage of the strikes on air defence assets in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk Oblasts was released by the Press Service of the 1st Separate Regiment of the Unmanned Systems Forces. Footage pertaining to the strikes on Iskander bases, the Pantsir system, and oil depots in Crimea was released by the Press Service of the 414th Separate Brigade “Magyar” of the Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine.
