(JUBA) – The British Embassy in Juba recently held a celebration to honour South Sudan Cultural Day, highlighting the country’s heritage and fostering a spirit of friendship and mutual respect between the United Kingdom and South Sudan.

The event brought together embassy staff and partners for a day of cultural appreciation. Attendees were invited to dress in traditional South Sudanese attire, with many proudly showcasing garments unique to their communities.

Local dishes were served, offering a taste of South Sudan’s diverse culinary traditions. Music and dance were also central to the occasion, with performances reflecting the rich cultural landscape of the country’s various regions.

A quiz added an educational element to the celebration, testing participants’ knowledge of both South Sudanese and British culture. It served as a lighthearted but informative activity, encouraging greater awareness and understanding among colleagues.

The British Embassy described the event as a “joyful celebration of diversity and shared friendship between our nations.”

South Sudanese participants expressed appreciation for the event, noting that such recognitions from international partners affirm the value of their culture in global spaces.
