( KHERSON ) – A Russian drone strike targeted a civilian bus carrying passengers in the Dnipro district of Kherson during daylight hours, injuring several people, Ukrainian officials said.

According to local authorities, the attack occurred at approximately 12:30 when a Russian drone struck a minibus transporting civilians.

Officials said the drone operators were able to see their target clearly and deliberately directed the attack at the passenger vehicle.

Nine people were taken to a hospital in Kherson following the strike. Medical authorities reported that those injured sustained mine explosive injuries.

Among the wounded were women aged 49, 64, 58, 37, 45 and 57, and men aged 41, 48 and 60.

One of the victims, a 58 year old woman from Kherson, was reported to be in serious condition.

Medical staff continued to examine the wounded and provide the necessary treatment.

A 17 year old boy was also injured in the attack. He sustained a mine explosive injury and was given medical assistance at the scene.

Ukrainian authorities said the strike formed part of continuing Russian attacks against civilian targets in the region controlled by forces directed by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Kherson and surrounding areas on the right bank of the Dnipro River are frequently targeted by artillery, drone and missile attacks launched from positions held by Russian forces across the river.
