(KYIV) – Agents from the resistance movement ATESH destroyed a main line electric locomotive at a railway depot in Bryansk in western Russia, according to a statement published on the group’s Telegram channel.
The depot is located in a major rail hub that supplies Russian military units operating near the Ukrainian border. The attack reportedly took place despite tightened security measures at the facility.
ATESH said its agents returned to the same depot where the movement had previously carried out a sabotage operation in November last year.
According to the group, Russian authorities had strengthened security following that earlier incident. Additional guards were deployed, new surveillance cameras were installed and access to the site was further restricted.
Despite these measures, ATESH said its agents were able to enter the facility and destroy another electric locomotive used for main line rail transport.
In a statement accompanying a video of the incident, the group said the attack targeted equipment used to transport military supplies to the front.
ATESH said the Bryansk rail hub remains an important logistics centre supporting Russian forces operating in northern sectors near the Ukrainian border.
The movement said the destruction of the locomotive was intended to disrupt military supply lines used by what it described as the Russian “North” group of troops, which operates near Ukrainian border regions.
According to the group, removing railway equipment used to transport ammunition and supplies represents a direct strike against Russian military logistics.
ATESH added that its agents continue to carry out operations inside Russian controlled territory despite increased security efforts by Russian authorities, including the Federal Security Service, known as the FSB.
The movement claimed that Russian security services have attempted to strengthen protection of key infrastructure, but it said resistance agents are still able to access restricted sites and damage equipment used to support military operations.
Earlier, on the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, ATESH said its agents carried out another sabotage operation targeting a communications facility.
According to the movement, Russian forces had installed antennas at that site for electronic warfare systems.
ATESH said its agents disabled the installation during the operation.
In a separate earlier incident reported in February, ATESH also claimed responsibility for destroying a communications tower in the Lipetsk region that was used by Russian security forces.
