(KOSTIANTYNIVKA, DONETSK) – A Russian dud bomb landed near a Russian dugout on the Donetsk front line and was detonated by a Ukrainian FPV drone. The ordnance, identified as either a FAB-250 or FAB-500, failed to explode on impact.
Ukraine reported two Russian soldiers inside the dugout at the time. The drone operator guided the device to the dud bomb, triggering a controlled detonation some 10 to 20 metres from the dugout. It is unclear if the blast caused significant structural damage or casualties.
The incident occurred near the settlement of Kostiantynivka, close to contested territory along a main east-west route. Analysts suggest the dugout may have been an older Ukrainian fortification now occupied by Russian forces.
This event comes nearly three years after Russian forces captured Bakhmut in May 2023. Since then, their advance along the front line has been limited, with settlements such as Chasiv Yar remaining outside Russian control.
