(SEVASTOPOL, CRIMEA, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian forces carried out coordinated strikes on Russian military targets in the occupied city of Sevastopol in Crimea, according to statements released on 19 March.
The operation was conducted by the Naval Forces of Ukraine in coordination with Special Operations Forces and Unmanned Systems units. Ukrainian officials said the strikes targeted key elements of Russia’s air defence network in the occupied peninsula.
In the area of Fiolent Highway, Ukrainian forces struck the innovation centre of the production and technical enterprise “Granit”, which is part of the Russian Almaz Antey defence group. The facility is used to repair and maintain Russian air defence systems.
The enterprise services equipment that forms a core part of the air defence network protecting occupied Crimea. This includes S 400 Triumph and S 300PM2 systems, as well as radar stations identified as 92N6E and 96L6E. Medium and short range systems such as Buk M2 and M3 and Tor M2 are also maintained at the site.
Ukrainian officials reported that personnel locations in the area of Striletska Bay were also struck during the operation. The extent of casualties is being clarified.
The Naval Forces of Ukraine said they continue systematic operations aimed at reducing Russian military capability in occupied territories.
Footage released by the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed strikes on the targeted facilities in Sevastopol, including air defence related infrastructure.
