(KHARKIV REGION) – While conducting necessary combat operations, personnel from the 429th Achilles Unmanned Systems Brigade encountered a local owl that had become incapacitated. The bird was found severely entangled in a Russian anti drone net and fiber optic cable, making it impossible for the animal to escape without human intervention. Recognising the distress of the bird, the Ukrainian soldiers paused their mission to carefully extract the owl from the mesh and release it back into its natural habitat.
The brigade highlighted that ongoing military actions initiated by the Russian dictator have caused significant and widespread damage to the regional environment. These operations continue to result in the destruction of forests and fields, while posing a direct threat to the survival of local animal and bird populations.
The financial cost of repairing such environmental damage is estimated to be in the billions. Despite the intensity of the conflict, the Ukrainian personnel emphasised their commitment to preserving life and maintaining respect for the natural world. They stated that their struggle remains focused on a future defined by freedom and kindness, contrasting their actions with the destruction brought by the forces of the Russian dictator.
