(KYIV) – Ukrainian Special Operations Forces carried out a series of strikes against Russian military targets in occupied Crimea and the Zaporizhzhia region over a three day period, according to Ukrainian officials.
Units from the Middle strike component of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces targeted several military facilities used by Russian forces. Ukrainian authorities said the operations damaged key logistics and electronic warfare infrastructure used by the occupying forces.
One of the strikes hit a logistics support warehouse at the Khersones airfield in occupied Sevastopol, Crimea. Ukrainian forces also targeted a generator and switching equipment belonging to Russian electronic warfare and electronic reconnaissance stations operating in the city.
Additional strikes were carried out in Russian controlled areas of the Zaporizhzhia region. In the town of Yakymivka, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian repair base used to service damaged armoured vehicles.
In Andriivka, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces targeted a technical maintenance facility as well as a warehouse storing logistical supplies, weapons and military equipment belonging to Russian troops.
Another strike hit a Russian logistics centre in Berestove, according to Ukrainian officials.
Ukrainian military sources described the attacks as part of a series of Middle strike operations. These medium range strikes are designed to hit targets deep inside territory occupied by Russian forces, sometimes hundreds of kilometres from the front line.
Ukrainian officials said the attacks were supported by members of the resistance movement operating inside territories temporarily occupied by Russian forces. Underground networks reportedly monitored Russian military installations and provided intelligence to Ukrainian units.
The Ukrainian military said strikes against Russian airfields, arsenals and electronic warfare capabilities weaken the operational capacity of Russian forces.
