(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence has released an intercepted radio conversation revealing how Russian commanders routinely use threats of personal violence to coerce their own soldiers into obedience.
The audio recording, published by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine on 24 April 2026, captures a senior Russian officer issuing menacing warnings to subordinates who had failed to follow orders.
In the intercepted transmission, the commander is heard saying: “Listen to me carefully. If you do not do as I said, when I said it, I am telling you, I will refuse by your coordinates. I am telling you.”
The officer intensifies his threats, directly warning his troops that they face personal retribution should they fail to carry out battlefield plans. “If you derail the plans one more time, one more time, you will not need to fear them. I will personally lock you in there,” the commander states.
In a chilling conclusion that underscores the brutal internal discipline within Russian occupation forces, the officer adds: “I know exactly where you are. I will definitely deal with you.”
Ukraine’s military intelligence service used the release of the recording to remind Russian servicemen that surrender remains a viable alternative to fighting for Kremlin ambitions. The agency renewed its appeal for Russian troops to contact the “I Want to Live” project, a state run initiative that allows them to safely defect.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine emphasised that any Russian soldier seeking to avoid death in a criminal war can make contact through a secure Telegram bot to arrange terms of surrender. The captured audio was released by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
