(KYIV) – President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved new plans to intensify Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities against the Russian Federation for June, the head of state announced in his evening address.

The President stated that the Ukrainian military had reported on the situation at the front and the results of actions against the Russian occupiers. “This month has brought changes in dynamics in our favour, in favour of Ukraine. We are holding positions more effectively and inflicting more damage,” Zelenskyy stated.

He highlighted the effectiveness of Ukrainian long-range strikes on Russian territory. “The impact of our long-range sanctions against Russia is particularly significant,” he said.

Zelenskyy confirmed that he has already approved new plans regarding Ukraine’s long-range capabilities. “Today I approved the plans for our long-range capabilities for June, and we must creatively develop Ukrainian long-range sanctions, which showed their strength in May,” the head of state declared.

The President also discussed the situation in the Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka and Kharkiv directions, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia region. “I have identified the decisions that need to be implemented. And for this, we will increase the supply of equipment to the troops. EW, drones, separate funding for combat brigades – these are our constant priorities,” Zelenskyy emphasised.

The President had earlier stated that Ukraine is bringing the Russian war of aggression back to its origin. Speaking on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People, Zelenskyy described the enemy as one that came for the freedom of nations in the twentieth century and earlier and now seeks to take away the freedom of Ukraine and all those near Russia.

“We are defending ourselves – we are defending Ukraine, and this is not the first time Ukrainian independence has needed protection, but in our time, the defence is most effective,” he said.

“We are bringing the Russian war of aggression back home, to the only place where the war came from. And everyone sees our completely just responses to Russian terror, to all the strikes on Ukraine, and we are increasing our responses. It used to be an event when dozens of Ukrainian drones hit Russia, but now hundreds of our long-range sanctions every day are no longer a sensation, but always pleasant news, useful news,” the head of state noted.

He expressed gratitude to the friends of Ukraine and friends of Ukrainian intelligence who assist with this capability. “I am grateful to all our warriors and to each of our weapons manufacturers for making the aggressor feel pain, and for ensuring that every victim in Ukraine from Russian strikes, from Russian state madness – every victim does not go without just retribution. I have approved new operations for our special services and our Defence Forces of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy concluded.

The President had previously stated that Ukraine’s Defence Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence services launched massive strikes on the Moscow region from a distance of over 500 kilometres. “First of all, our precision – our long-range sanctions against Russia for this war. Today, the Defence Forces of Ukraine, our SBU, and our intelligence worked very extensively on the Moscow region. A good wave of our deep strikes – we are providing Ukraine with this capability. The distance to the targets this time is more than 500 kilometres; this is significant also because the Moscow region is the most saturated with Russian air defence systems. They protect their seat of power the most. But Ukrainian long-range steps are already overcoming this,” Zelenskyy noted.

“As I said yesterday, Russians need to think about their refineries, their oil facilities, their enterprises, and not about how to break the lives of other nations – in Ukraine, or in Moldova, or in any other neighbouring country,” the President emphasised.

Zelenskyy added that the Defence Forces also worked on targets in the temporarily occupied territory, specifically in Crimea. He noted that Ukraine’s partners are sending signals that they see how everything has changed both in the mood regarding the war and in the reach of Russian targets on Russian territory.

“The war is quite predictably returning to its ‘home harbour,’ and this is a clear signal that one should not mess with Ukraine and wage an unjust war of aggression against another people – specifically against the people. It is important that we are sending such a signal and sending it specifically today, on the Day of Remembrance of hundreds of thousands of victims of totalitarian repressions – repressions originating precisely from Moscow,” the President noted.

The President of Ukraine has also stated that due to the strikes, Ukraine has reduced Russia’s oil refining capacity by ten per cent, forcing companies to shut down wells, while Russia’s budget deficit has already exceeded annual plans.
