(KYIV) – The Armed Forces of Ukraine have reported the destruction of Russian occupying forces in the Kupyansk direction, stating that recent operations disrupted enemy command structures and reduced the combat effectiveness of Russian units operating in the area.
According to information released on January 20 by UNN, units of the 77th Separate Airmobile Naddnipryanska Brigade carried out coordinated actions that resulted in the elimination of enemy personnel, the destruction of field shelters, and damage to control and communication systems used by Russian forces. The brigade published video footage of the operation on the Telegram messaging platform.
Ukrainian military officials said the actions were conducted through coordinated efforts by brigade personnel and the effective use of available weapons. As a result, Russian units faced significant difficulties in coordinating their movements and maintaining operational control, which Ukrainian commanders say weakened their overall combat capability in the sector.
The brigade stated that it continues to carry out its assigned missions in the Kupyansk area, maintaining the initiative and inflicting further losses on Russian forces. The caption accompanying the released footage said the disruption of command and communications had a direct impact on the ability of Russian units to operate effectively.
Earlier this month, Ukrainian forces in the same direction reported thwarting an attempted assault by Russian troops who allegedly sought to use the Soyuz gas pipeline as part of their advance. The 77th Separate Airmobile Naddnipryanska Brigade said at the time that at least 40 Russian soldiers were eliminated, helping to stabilise the situation within the brigade’s area of responsibility.
