(KUPIANSK, KHARKIV) – Ukrainian Special Operations Forces have successfully identified and detained a Russian operative who had been hiding within the town of Kupiansk to coordinate strikes against Ukrainian defensive positions. The capture follows a period of intensive surveillance in the Kharkiv region where the individual was found to be directing fire for the forces of the Russian dictator.
The Special Operations Forces Command confirmed the successful mission via a statement on social media, supported by video evidence of the detention. Military intelligence initially flagged the presence of a covert operative through radio intercepts which pointed to a specific district within the town. Despite the clear signal of an enemy presence, the urban environment provided significant challenges for the capture team.
The operative utilized the dense urban landscape of Kupiansk to evade detection, frequently changing locations and utilizing various shelters and potential firing positions to remain hidden. However, through a process described by the command as meticulous and systematic work, the special operations group was able to isolate the spotter’s exact location. The individual was taken into custody without further incident.
This operation reflects a broader effort by Ukrainian defenders to clear liberated areas of remnants from the Russian dictator’s forces. A similar instance occurred recently in the village of Lyman, also within the Kharkiv region, where another Russian serviceman was found in hiding and subsequently captured.
